"They literally replaced you as the host, and you're still optimistic enough to take me out?" Natalie replied.

There was a brief pause on the other end. "It's only temporary. I haven't been in the best headspace lately anyway."

"Did they give you a timeline for when you'll be back? If there's no hard date, they're just stringing you along. Think about it carefully. I won't nag you too much. Pick a restaurant and text me the address. School just let out, so grab Mia and bring her along."

"Will do. If you hadn't suggested it, I probably would've just sent her straight home. Her teacher messaged me recently, telling me to discipline her. Apparently, she's been causing trouble at school and even bullying a classmate," Cora sighed softly.

Natalie bit her lip and absentmindedly rubbed her ear. She had a pretty good idea who that classmate was. Laughing it off, she said, "Bring her. I'll help you give her a talking-to."

Cora booked a highly-rated upscale Asian fusion restaurant.

To everyone's surprise, they bumped into Hassan right at the entrance, accompanied by Jacob, Yale, and Marvin.

Jacob immediately started barking like a rabid dog. "Natalie, are you seriously stalking Hassan?!"

Natalie rolled her eyes. "I could say the same about you."

Hassan glanced her way, his tone infuriatingly calm. "Care to join us?"

"Pass." Natalie grabbed Cora's arm and marched straight inside.

Jacob looked bewildered. "Is that really Natalie? How can she be so cold to you? She's faking it, right?"

Yale looked at Hassan. "Is the divorce finalized?"

The man lowered his gaze. "Soon," he replied flatly.

Hearing this, Marvin gave Hassan a brief look before his eyes followed Natalie's retreating figure.
