After finishing their meal, Natalie and Cora exited their private room with Mia in tow. The three of them were carrying small complimentary gifts from the restaurant, handed out to celebrate their anniversary.

"I'll be taking Mia home now," Cora said with a warm smile.

Mia waved her little hand. "Bye, Natalie."

"Bye. See you next time," Natalie replied.

But right at that moment, another group stepped out into the lobby.

Kids were easily distracted by their surroundings, and Natalie noticed Mia's attention immediately locking onto something. The girl grabbed Cora's hand tightly.

Following her gaze, Natalie saw Gardenia and Adrian walking out alongside Jacob.

She expected Hassan to appear right behind them, but even after everyone had trickled out, there was no sign of him.

She didn't dwell on it. He probably had an emergency and left early.

Without sparing the group a second glance, Natalie said her goodbyes to Cora and drove off.

She decided to head to the lab. During dinner, she had suddenly been struck by a burst of inspiration.

Not long after hitting the road, her phone buzzed with a message from Marvin: "Based on the direction you're driving, are you heading to the lab?"

Natalie texted back a simple 'yes.'

He didn't reply right away. Whatever he was doing, he seemed to have just dropped the question and vanished.

However, shortly after she arrived at the lab, Marvin showed up as well.

"Surprised? I'm a workaholic, too," Marvin chuckled, pulling a bag of gummy bears from his pocket and placing them on her desk.

She glanced down at the candy, murmured a quick thanks, and dove straight into her work.

The two of them worked in quiet harmony, focusing on their respective tasks.
