Arriving at the first floor, the elevator doors opened, and Natalie stepped out.
The hall was crowded and buzzing with chatter. The relatives who had been in the Ancestral Hall had all moved here, their hushed whispers entirely focused on what she had supposedly done to Adrian.
As Natalie walked in, the voices abruptly died down.
The atmosphere turned icy.
Cecily looked at her sternly. Once Natalie was close enough, she spoke: "Hassan said you apologized to Adrian. I hope you truly understand your mistake and aren't just paying lip service."
Other elders chimed in, "Is that it? Adrian is the heir to the Carlson family, Hassan's only son, and he was injured today!"
"She actually had the heart to hurt such a young child! Who knows what she might pull next. We absolutely cannot let this slide."
"We have to make sure she never pulls a stunt like this again."
"Exactly. We have to guarantee the boy's safety."
Natalie listened to their demands, a cold smile forming inwardly. These people were determined to drag her through the mud.
"Then tell me, what exactly do you want me to do?" she challenged, sweeping her gaze over her accusers.
"She should at least sign a written guarantee. If we ever see the boy hurt again, you must face the appropriate consequences."
Natalie raised an eyebrow. "Are you saying that from now on, whenever he gets hurt—no matter who did it—it'll be blamed on me? Is that what you mean?"
The sheer absurdity of the demand silenced the person who suggested it, though someone muttered under their breath, "At least this way you wouldn't dare try to hurt him. Who else would harm him but you? Being so aggressive just proves how jealous you are of the boy. It's not our fault you can't have kids of your own."
Hassan swept his gaze over the relatives. The dark suit accentuated his broad shoulders and back, his jawline sharp and imposing. Though he was of a younger generation, his sheer presence carried a suffocating weight that overpowered everyone in the room.
The person who had muttered instantly clamped their mouth shut.
No matter how much Hassan supposedly disliked Natalie, she was still legally his wife. Publicly insulting her was a direct insult to him.
