Natalie glared in their direction, her gaze razor-sharp.

She had thought Gardenia was going to drive Adrian to school herself. Instead, she was waiting in Hassan's car.

How was this any different from them playing happy family?

Natalie's breathing grew heavy. Even if she and Hassan were on the brink of divorce, she refused to swallow this kind of humiliation. She was absolutely not going to stand by while they paraded their cozy, three-person unit right in front of her.

Her eyes darted downward. Without hesitation, she grabbed the heavy fire extinguisher mounted against the concrete wall.

Marching right up to the Cullinan, she swung.

*CRASH!*

The deafening sound of shattering glass echoed violently through the underground garage.

Gardenia jumped out of her skin. In the backseat, Adrian had been quietly reading a book. At the sound of the explosion, his entire body convulsed. He curled into a tight ball on the floorboards, his pale skin instantly turning flushed and sweaty. His face contorted, his eyes blown wide and bloodshot in pure terror.

Gardenia stared at the destroyed windshield in absolute horror, her face twisting in rage. "Natalie! Are you insane?!"

This was Hassan's brand-new car! They had picked it out together. She had merely mentioned it looked nice, and Hassan had bought it on the spot.

And now, the entire front windshield was completely caved in!

Furious, Gardenia threw the car door open, ready to tear into her.

Natalie just raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you going to check on your precious son? Oh, right."

Gardenia whipped her head around. "Adrian!" Forgetting all about Natalie, she scrambled over to her son.

Natalie didn't waste another second on them. The suffocating tightness in her chest vanished the moment she had swung that heavy metal canister.

Feeling thoroughly refreshed, she got into her own car and drove straight to the research institute. She spent the entire morning happily buried in lab work.

At noon, she met up with Cora Vance.

They had chosen an ocean-themed restaurant.

The decor was a gradient of oceanic blues, shifting from the light shades of the surface down to the inky depths of the seafloor. Jellyfish chandeliers cast a soft, hazy glow, while a massive, curved aquarium wrapped around the dining area. Tropical fish, clownfish, and silver schools darted past their tables. Occasionally, performers dressed as mermaids glided through the water, their tails gracefully slicing through the currents.

They sat quietly in a secluded corner.

Cora brought up the news article that had been circulating.

"So many people have been trying to contact me since that dropped," Cora said, sliding her phone across the table. "Look at this. If I hadn't put it on silent, it would be ringing off the hook. Everyone wants me to spill details about you."

Natalie sipped her drink, glancing at the glowing screen.

Another incoming call flashed across it right at that moment.
