Jude had previously offered to form an alliance with Natalie, but she had completely ignored him.
This time, she sent the first message.
[How exactly do you want to work together? Let's hear it.]
He replied almost immediately:
[What made you change your mind?]
Natalie typed back:
[Tell me or don't. Your call.]
Too lazy to type, Jude sent a voice note. "Mrs. Carlson, with a temper like that, how does Hassan even put up with you? Or do you magically turn sweet and gentle the second you're in his bed?"
The sheer sleaziness of the message made Natalie's skin crawl.
She didn't dignify it with a response.
But Jude kept firing off messages.
[A partnership works perfectly. I want Gardenia, you want Hassan. We both walk away with what we want. It's a win-win.]
[Your first order of business is to get rid of the bodyguards surrounding Gardenia.]
[And then, I need you to get your hands on her passport and ID.]
Still irritated by his gross comment, Natalie deliberately left him on read.
She stayed busy until lunch, ate, and took a short nap.
When she woke up, she finally checked her phone.
Seeing Jude's demands, she let out a cold laugh. He was obviously planning to force Gardenia out of the country.
Remembering the sheer despair in Cora's eyes at the restaurant, Natalie felt a heavy knot in her chest. Men could be so unfathomably ruthless.
Jude didn't care about Cora, and he certainly didn't care about his own daughter. He was the sole heir to the Sheridan family, yet he was throwing his entire life away to chase Gardenia, abandoning his wife and his legacy.
Jude finally sent a single question mark: [Where did you go?]
Natalie still didn't reply to him. Instead, she texted Hassan.
[Did you hire bodyguards for Gardenia?]
He replied with a simple *Yes*, immediately following it up by asking why she had smashed his car.
Ignoring his question entirely, Natalie asked her own:
[How many?]
Hassan: [Just a few.]
