Natalie didn't even look at him. She climbed straight into bed and continued texting Nancy.
She wasn't usually one for idle chatter, but she had gotten into the habit of talking with Nancy every night to help her unwind.
Thanks to their nightly routine, Nancy's insomnia had significantly improved.
Natalie lay there, her chest rising and falling evenly, eyes glued to her screen. Suddenly, a towering shadow fell over her.
It was Hassan. He was standing right next to the bed.
His legs were incredibly long to begin with, but from Natalie's angle—lying flat while he stood over her—he looked absolutely imposing. She had to tilt her head all the way back just to look at his face.
She glanced up briefly before dropping her eyes back to her screen. "What are you doing? You're blocking my light."
Hassan noted the chat window on her phone. Seeing it was just Nancy, he didn't say a word. He grabbed his sleepwear and walked straight into the bathroom.
Inside, the air was still thick with the humid, fragrant mist from Natalie's shower. The entire room smelled like her body wash.
Her clothes were still sitting in the hamper.
Hassan shot them a cold glance. They were the exact same clothes she had worn out that morning. She hadn't changed before dinner.
His long, elegant fingers undid the rest of his buttons. He stepped under the spray, letting the water trace down his dark hair, over his neck, tracing the sharp lines of his back, and down the hard ridges of his abs.
He closed his eyes. Even surrounded by the scent of her body wash, all he could smell was the lingering alcohol on her jacket.
The soap lathered in his hands, smooth and slippery.
He rinsed off and stepped out of the shower.
After roughly toweling off, he slipped into a dark robe, leaving the front loosely tied, exposing the defined muscles of his chest and stomach.
Back in the bedroom, Natalie was already curled up under the blankets.
Dark circles shadowed her eyes. She looked exhausted.
She was acting like a rebellious teenager who had partied too hard and forgot what time to come home.
