Cecily cleared her throat lightly. "Enough, all of you. You start testing him the moment he arrives, turning a family gathering into a pop quiz. Adrian gets tired too, you know. Come here, Adrian, come to Great-grandma."
Someone laughed and said, "Adrian is closest to Great-grandma now, isn't he? She takes you everywhere she goes."
Everyone could see just how much Cecily adored the boy.
Aside from the child being exceptionally bright, it was undoubtedly because he was Hassan's son.
They couldn't even imagine—if Natalie had given birth to a child and Cecily had raised it from infancy, the levels of pampering that kid would receive would be off the charts.
It was a pity Natalie couldn't seize the opportunity; four years of marriage and she hadn't managed to leave an heir.
"Natalie, you're here! I was just talking about you," Aunt Rhea said, looking at her with a warm, harmonious expression. Acting as if there were absolutely no bad blood between them, she stepped forward and affectionately grabbed Natalie's wrist.
Rhea's leg was still in a splint, and she was leaning heavily on crutches. She looked nothing like her usual glamorous, jewel-draped self.
"Aunt Rhea, you were discharged so quickly?" Natalie asked. "I'm actually quite surprised."
Rhea smiled at Natalie, secretly wishing she could grind the younger woman into the dirt. Unfortunately, she still had to pretend they were on the best of terms.
She nodded with a smile. "I've been out for a while. It's my fault, really—I should have had someone text you when I was discharged, so you wouldn't worry for nothing."
"I've been a bit busy lately," Natalie replied smoothly, "so I didn't really think too much about it."
Did that mean she hadn't worried about her at all?
Rhea's lips twitched in anger. She just couldn't understand why Natalie had changed so much recently. In the past, the girl would never have embarrassed her in front of so many people.
Everyone knew Natalie was straightforward, but even when dealing with someone she disliked, she usually kept it subtle for the sake of family harmony.
