The moment Jacob Holt walked Gardenia through her front door, he could clearly tell something was seriously wrong with her.

"Are you just exhausted? Or are you hot?" He reached out and pressed a hand to her forehead. "It doesn't feel like a fever, either."

Supporting her with one arm, he pulled out his phone. "Let me call a doctor for you."

Gardenia grabbed his hand. "Don't."

She still had some shreds of sanity left. If anyone else found out about this, it would be humiliating.

Jacob didn't force the issue. He helped her inside and poured her a glass of water. "Did Natalie poison you or something?"

Gardenia took a small sip, her head bowed. She looked up at him. "Jacob, could you go check on Hassan for me? I'm worried about him."

Jacob was baffled. "He's a grown man. What's there to check on? It looks to me like you're the one who needs someone looking after you."

Gardenia bit her lip. "Actually, I was dosed with a certain kind of drug, and Hassan probably was too. That's why I'm so worried."

It took Jacob a few seconds to process the implication. His eyes widened, and he shot up from his seat.

"You're saying Hassan got dosed with the same stuff you did?" Jacob frantically dialed Hassan's number, but it rang through to voicemail.

Now Jacob was even more frantic than Gardenia.

Why wasn't Hassan answering? What was he doing right now? Was he... with Natalie? No, impossible.

Gardenia pushed him toward the door. "That's why you need to go check on him right now!"

"What the hell? Who's slipping you guys this garbage? How low can you get?" Jacob paused, remembering that Gardenia had mentioned Natalie was there too. His eyes widened in realization. "Was it Natalie?"

Gardenia kept her head down, saying absolutely nothing.

Taking her silence as a blatant admission, Jacob's fury instantly ignited. "Natalie is seriously crossing the line! To pull a stunt like this... I knew it! There's no way she's just going to sign those divorce papers quietly and let him go."

Turning on his heel, he headed for the door. "Take care of yourself, Gardenia. I'm going over there right now."
