"After Cora died, all her belongings were left with Jude. I want you to help me get all the things she brought back from the company."

"Why do you want those?" Gardenia was confused.

"You don't need to ask. Just do as you're told. It shouldn't be hard for you, considering Jude listens to you like a dog."

"What else? Can you guarantee that if I agree to your demand, you'll delete the recording?"

"Of course. Releasing it would hurt me just as much as it hurts you. I'm more than happy to complete this transaction with you."

Gardenia gritted her teeth. Thinking about the consequences of the recording going public, she agreed immediately. "Fine, I'll do as you say."

Natalie left the tea room.

She had planned this out long ago.

Because that scheme had happened so suddenly, the notes she had originally left for Cora were still inside Cora's notebook. Those insights had once drawn personal praise from Mr. Yates, sending their popularity skyrocketing and prompting many to beg Cora for the original drafts.

Jude might have already read them, but he wouldn't recognize Natalie's handwriting.

Just in case, she needed to get the notebook back as soon as possible. If someone familiar with her handwriting saw it, they might immediately suspect she was H.

The best person for this job was Gardenia.

Gardenia also thought this would be a breeze, but she never expected Jude to refuse such a trivial request now.

The man's voice was deep over the phone. "Why do you want her things?"

"Jude, you've changed. Are you defending Cora now? It's not like I'm asking for anything important," Gardenia's voice rose sharply in disbelief. "It's just a notebook, why are you keeping it? Do you really have feelings for her now, keeping a notebook as a memento? Then why did you make those vows to me back then?"

Her words left Jude speechless. He felt a wave of irritation. "That thing is of no use to you anyway. What do you want it for?"
