When too many people asked, he just started ignoring them.
Jude sat back in his chair, not blinking once, the words he had just seen in the notebook inexplicably appearing in his mind.
He got up and went to Cora's room.
They had slept in separate rooms. He had moved out of their master bedroom, leaving the large suite to Cora, which contained their shared belongings.
Jude had moved his things out before, but since he didn't sleep at home often, he noticed after a few visits that his belongings had miraculously migrated back into the master bedroom.
Facing his questioning gaze, Cora would often avoid eye contact, keeping her head low, her cheeks and the tips of her ears turning pink. "Mom told me to bring your things over... I haven't touched them."
He didn't actually do anything, but she always looked terrified of making him angry.
He would put on a cold face, walk past her into the room, and haul his things out one by one.
They barely spoke, but Jude often heard about her from others.
Her previous job was a TV host, and many people knew her.
He had seen photos of her hosting programs through friends.
He was somewhat surprised because he had never seen such a confident and radiant Cora. When she was focused on her work, she seemed to glow with a captivating light.
Later, his family didn't want her working outside.
The thought that he might never again see her looking so radiant in those photos from his friends' phones felt like a real shame.
So, when the Sheridan Family pressured her to quit, he spoke up for her.
He merely put in a casual good word, yet she had stared at him with wide, sparkling doe eyes, full of pleasant surprise.
Even if he didn't love her, he wouldn't deny that she was a wonderful woman. If she hadn't married him, she would likely have lived a very happy life. Both her looks and her personality were exactly the type men adored.
He looked toward Cora's row of bookshelves.
She was meticulous in whatever she did. Regardless of the field she entered, she would buy piles of books to study.
There were books on hosting and public speaking, entertainment literature, and later on, when she switched industries, she bought numerous biographies and scientific research books.
