After Natalie publicly declared her feelings for Hassan, Chloe turned against her—because Chloe was in love with him, too.
She figured that photo had already spread throughout their entire social circle; everyone definitely knew by now.
But it didn’t matter to her anymore. Once the divorce was finalized, all these people would vanish from her life.
She locked her screen without replying.
For the entire morning, Natalie stayed in the lab, burying her head with her teammates in front of various precision instruments.
Their team was currently focusing on humanoid tactile sensors—essentially giving robots a human-like "sense of touch." This micrometer-level force perception allowed the machine to differentiate between the textures of silk, paper, and the fragility of an egg without crushing it.
At noon, she drove back to Sycamore Quays, only to discover that Cecily’s real intention wasn't for her to come home for lunch, but to deliver food to Hassan.
After Cecily’s stern reminder last night, Natalie was compliant with her every demand.
It was only for these last three months anyway. As long as Grandma Yvonne got her surgery, she was willing to walk away from the marriage with absolutely nothing.
Arriving at the Carlson Group headquarters, Natalie sent Hassan a message.
There was no reply. He was probably busy, or simply ignoring her.
So, she carried the lunchbox straight to the reception desk.
She used to cling to Hassan and visit the office frequently, so the receptionist recognized her and proactively escorted her to the CEO’s private elevator.
The executive floor was a picture of quiet efficiency.
When she walked in, everyone looked up, visibly surprised.
It had been a long time since she’d shown her face. She used to come deliver food almost every single day, completely inseparable from him.
Just as she was walking toward the CEO's office, Hassan’s secretary stepped in her path. "Um, Mrs. Carlson. Mr. Carlson is busy right now. You're here to drop off food, right? Let me take that. I'll bring it in as soon as he's free."
Smack. Natalie slapped her hard across the face.
Gardenia’s cheek instantly swelled red. The secretary shielded her. "Mrs. Carlson, she was genuinely just reporting on work!"
"I know. I didn't say otherwise." Natalie rolled her wrist and shrugged. "My hand just slipped."
The secretary was rendered completely speechless.
Natalie brushed past them and walked in. Hassan was seated behind his desk, focused on some documents.
Looking up and seeing her, he paused, setting down his fountain pen. "You haven't been here in a while."
Natalie set the lunchbox on the table, opened the containers one by one, took out her phone, and said casually, "Is that right?"
Hassan stood up and walked over. "What brings you here so suddenly?"
