When she returned to Sycamore Quays that night, the man was sitting on the sofa. She instantly knew he was waiting to settle the score.
The house was massive, but Hassan usually confined himself to the study, the bedroom, and the home gym.
She walked past him, completely ignoring his presence, and headed straight for the bedroom to change. Hassan stopped her. "What kind of crazy stunt are you pulling on social media?"
"I'm not pulling a stunt." She smiled casually. "I just figured my husband is so handsome, I should share the view with everyone. I'm sure they're all very grateful."
The man's brows knitted together, his eyes as dark as ink. "Delete it."
"No." Natalie waved her phone at him. "It's my phone. I post what I want."
"Who else did you send photos to?"
"Everyone who asked."
Natalie gave him a sweet smile, spun on her heel, and walked away.
Hassan stared at her smiling face, momentarily stunned into silence. On his phone, a friend had just messaged:
"Hassan, Natalie is crossing the line. When are you finally divorcing her? Gardenia is waiting for you."
Staring at the closed bedroom door, he answered in a low voice, "Soon."
The Research and Technology Expo arrived in the blink of an eye.
Natalie woke up bright and early and picked out a casual beige suit.
The relaxed fit was sharp yet effortless. She paired it with a simple white tee and high-waisted straight-leg pants. Her hair was pulled back loosely, with a few stray strands framing her face. She looked as radiant as the early spring sun.
She had worried that Cecily would demand she delete the post once she saw it. To her surprise, although the older woman's face had darkened, she hadn't said a word.
She guessed Cecily also wanted someone to put Gardenia in her place.
Quite a few people she knew showed up at the Expo.
Seeing her, they all wore identical expressions of shock.
Gardenia froze, her expression stiffening. "Natalie, don't misunderstand. I just posted that casually. We were only having dinner."
Hassan looked at Gardenia. "What picture?"
Biting her lip, Gardenia pulled up the post to show him. "Is this not okay? I'll delete it then."
A second later, Natalie heard Hassan's deep voice. "No need."
She glanced over and saw his impassive face. "It's just a photo."
Natalie smirked. "You're right, it's nothing. I'll just wait for the bed photos."
The man looked at her calmly. "Natalie, are you done throwing tantrums?"
Jacob Holt marched over from a distance. "You think Gardenia posted that just to make you jealous? She doesn't have a twisted mind like yours. She just posted it for fun."
Natalie shot him a look, firing back with the exact same insult she'd used before. "When you're in love, it's like your brain is full of water. I get it. I used to be just like you. I hope you make a speedy recovery."
