The moment the post went live, the internet exploded even further.
Anyone with eyes could see that Natalie's statement was anything but a genuine clarification.
Instead, it meticulously laid out exactly how she had been wronged.
She had rehearsed for months, was days away from opening night, and was unceremoniously fired with a single sentence.
This only poured gasoline on the netizens' fiery outrage.
Natalie assumed Hassan would definitely come looking for her after that.
But he didn't.
After finishing dinner with Professor Adler, she headed back to Sycamore Quays.
She hadn't really wanted to return, but Hassan's silence struck her as odd.
During the ride, she texted the doctors looking after Lemuel and Yvonne, confirming that both of her grandparents were doing fine.
She was genuinely baffled.
Upon arriving home, she found Hassan standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows, wearing a crisp white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. He was looking down, wrapping up a phone call.
As she closed the door, he ended the call.
His gaze shifted to her, eerily calm. "Are you done playing, Natalie?"
She frowned. "I'm not playing."
"This is the clarification you promised? If you have zero credibility like this, how do you expect anyone to trust you in business?"
Natalie shrugged nonchalantly. "I don't care. I'm just doing it for fun anyway. You know me, don't you?"
She turned and walked into the bedroom, but he followed right behind her.
She glanced at him. "Aren't you busy doing damage control?"
"That's the PR department's job."
"How could I expect you to overwork yourself? After all, you juggle your schedule pretty well."
The moment the words left her mouth, he closed the distance between them. "Is that so?"
She held her ground, staring him down. "Aren't you in a rush to go comfort her? Let me guess, how will you soothe her this time? Fly her halfway across the globe, just like last time?"
Before she could finish, his hands gripped her waist, and he lowered his head, forcing a bruising kiss against her lips.
She pushed against him with all her might, but he didn't budge.
He ripped off his tie and bound her hands above her head, using his knee to part her legs as his cold lips trailed over her skin.
Natalie bit her lip. "Don't touch me. You disgust me."
Hassan froze. He looked up, his eyes dark, and gripped her chin. "Disgusting? You used to beg for me, and now I'm disgusting?"
"I regret it."
Her voice was hoarse as the words slipped out.
Silence blanketed the room. He stared at her with heavy, unreadable eyes. Slowly, he stopped what he was doing, got off the bed, straightened his clothes, and walked out.
The door slammed shut with a deafening bang.
He was furious.
Natalie gritted her teeth, sitting up awkwardly. She used her teeth to loosen the tie around her wrists until she finally broke free.
It was a tie she had bought for him.
How ridiculous. He was cheating on her, yet he still wore the tie she gifted him. Did men really have no sense of guilt or shame?
Feeling thoroughly sickened, she tossed the tie straight into the trash can.
