The incident took a significant toll on both Natalie and Gardenia.
It was only through the aggressive efforts of the Carlson Group's PR team that the online heat finally began to cool down.
The internet moved fast. No matter how massive the scandal, it would eventually be buried by the next big controversy.
But while the momentum was still strong, Natalie told Quinn to immediately launch official social media accounts for their dance troupe.
At first, Quinn hesitated, wondering if it might look opportunistic. But Natalie insisted they had to seize every possible chance to climb higher. This was a gift from the universe.
Thanks to the scandal, Quinn's Wishbound Dance Troupe saw a massive surge in popularity, gaining hundreds of thousands of followers almost overnight. They went viral, and collaboration offers started pouring in.
Meanwhile, the Kingswood Arts Center lost a slew of sponsorships and partnerships as a direct result of the backlash.
This was the absolute best outcome they could have hoped for.
Natalie knew that if she went back to Sycamore Quays, Cecily would likely corner her and lecture her relentlessly about the situation, so she decided to visit the hospital to see her grandparents instead.
On the way, she received the DNA test results.
Pulling the car over, she stared at her phone screen. Even though she was already certain of the outcome, seeing the notification still made her hesitate.
After a few seconds, she tapped the file open.
Her pupils shrank as she stared at the words: *No biological relation.*
How was that possible?
Natalie sat in the driver's seat, stunned. Frowning, she read the report again.
If Adrian wasn't Hassan's biological son, why would he treat the boy so incredibly well?
She couldn't make sense of it.
For the next few days, Natalie didn't see Hassan whenever she returned to Sycamore Quays.
Cecily frequently asked her to deliver meals to him at the office, but Hassan refused to see her, always having the receptionist take the food instead.
She pulled up Jacob's contact info and dialed, but he refused to answer, clearly stringing her along on purpose.
She didn't want to ask Hassan for help. After a moment of thought, she called Yale Easton instead.
Even though she wasn't close to Yale, he was the only one in that circle who had never belittled her.
He answered quickly, sounding a bit surprised. "Natalie? Why are you calling me?"
She quickly explained the situation with Jacob. "He's ignoring my calls. If possible, could you help me get in touch with him? I want to speak with him face-to-face."
She lowered her gaze to the smartwatch on her left wrist. It was a custom piece she had designed herself. That night at the club, she had recorded the conversation between Hassan and Gardenia on it.
If Jacob was hellbent on crossing her, she would have no choice but to use the recording against him.
"Alright," Yale said, his tone turning serious. "I'll book a restaurant and send you the address. By the way, it's best if you don't mention this call to Hassan."
Natalie paused, then remembered that despite Yale and Hassan being close friends, she rarely saw them together.
