Her memories of Yale were scarce.

She simply assumed he didn't want Hassan to know he was doing her a favor, so she agreed.

Inside the private dining room.

When Natalie pushed the door open, she saw Jacob and Yale waiting. She walked over, holding her phone. She had already transferred the audio file onto it.

The moment Jacob saw her, he stood up, a deep scowl on his face.

She honestly didn't know what she had done to make him despise her so much.

"Yale, what the hell? You called me here, and you brought her? Are you out of your mind? You're taking her side?" Jacob glared at him.

"I'm not taking her side," Yale replied calmly. "I'm helping a poor old man. Lyndon pushed his own father, leaving him in a vegetative state. You bailed out a piece of trash like that just to spite Natalie. Do you really think you're in the right here?"

Jacob wasn't interested in logic. "She deliberately drove a wedge between Hassan and me! Why aren't you backing me up?"

Yale closed his eyes briefly. "Do you honestly believe Hassan hit you just because you were getting a little too close to Gardenia? Weren't you acting exactly the same way when she first came back? Did Hassan have a problem with it then?"

Jacob froze.

When Hassan had suddenly snapped that day, everyone assumed it was because of Natalie's instigation—that Hassan was jealous of Jacob hovering around Gardenia.

Even Jacob hadn't stopped to think about it. Yale was right. He had always been affectionate with Gardenia.

Why did Hassan suddenly snap *that* specific day?

"Then why did he do it? What did I do wrong?"

Yale's gaze darkened as he looked down. "Figure it out yourself."

Natalie shot Yale a look of gratitude.

To her, Yale was simply trying to de-escalate the situation so Jacob wouldn't take his anger out on her or interfere with Lyndon's case.

"Hassan, the robot at the tech expo wasn't Gardenia's, was it?"

There was a beat of silence on the other end. "How do you know about that?"

Jacob hung up the phone. He gritted his teeth. "Delete all the copies, and I'll drop the matter."

Natalie deleted it without hesitation.

Jacob glared at her intently. "You better not have a backup hidden somewhere. If you dare hurt her, I will end you."

"I don't want to invite trouble for myself. That was the only copy."

Jacob made a quick phone call, gave the orders, shot Natalie one last look, and stormed out.

Yale stood up, sighing as he watched Jacob leave. "I apologize on his behalf."
