The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 107

As long as she was careful and avoided any accidents, she knew she could handle the work. Still, it was a massive project to entrust to a newcomer.

“Are you not feeling up to it?” Harrison asked, noticing her hesitation. “If you can’t do it, I’ll just turn down the contract.”

Suzie looked at him, startled. “Why?”

Harrison frowned. “Because the Baylor Group specifically requested you as the photographer.”

The words sent another shock through her. Who at Baylor Group had made that decision?

Even if Jamie had discovered she was the one who shot the photos for Lexi’s contract, he would never be so kind as to throw a lucrative opportunity her way. So, who could it be? Besides Aaron, no one else at the company even knew she existed.

“Mr. Young, this isn’t our first time working with the Baylor Group. I’m sure we can negotiate with them to use another one of our photographers,” Suzie suggested.

She couldn’t take this job. If she did, Lexi would undoubtedly assume she had secretly colluded with the Baylor Group to steal her client. In many industries, once a connection with a client is established, that client belongs to the person who brought them in. If Suzie was seen as someone who poached clients, her reputation in the industry would be ruined.

Suzie didn’t know how to respond. No matter what he said, she simply couldn’t believe that Jamie would intentionally hand her such a profitable job.

As she struggled with what to do, Harrison’s voice broke the silence again. “Suzie—I hope it’s alright I call you that. After what happened to Oliver’s parents… his company is in crisis. As his friend, I want to help him.”

Harrison stood up and began to pace around the office, his brow furrowed with worry.

Suzie waited, trying to understand where he was going with this. He continued, “If we can land this contract with the Baylor Group, the profits would be substantial. It would allow me to continue supporting Oliver through this difficult time. But Suzie, I’m not trying to pressure you. I genuinely consider you a friend, so I’m telling you this as part of a discussion. Whatever you decide, I’ll respect it.”
