Chloe and Lexi paid her no mind.

They exchanged a smirk, and then Lexi addressed Suzie. “So you do know a thing or two about the law? Then you should also know what evidence is. And what I have is irrefutable!”

Chloe turned to the two plainclothes officers. “Gentlemen, I’ve arranged for some refreshments for you inside. Please, have a seat and wait. We’ll just have a little chat, and then you can take Suzie away, alright?”

The officers glanced at the women. Since their purpose was to bring her in for questioning, not to make a forcible arrest, they decided to give them a few more minutes.

Lexi watched the officers leave with a deferential smile before turning back to Suzie, her expression twisting into a malicious sneer. “Chloe said we’re doing this out of consideration for Mr. Baylor, which is why we’re wasting our breath on you. But honestly, looking at your pathetic state, I can’t believe you were once Jamie’s wife. Just look at yourself. What part of you is worthy of him?”

As she spoke, Lexi’s eyes flashed with malice. In a sudden, vicious movement, she lunged forward and clamped her hand around Suzie’s throat, squeezing hard.

The attack caught Suzie completely off guard. She clawed at Lexi’s arm, choking out, “Lexi, you’ve gone too far!”

Mia, seeing this, rushed forward to push Lexi away, but Chloe intercepted her, yanking her aside.

Already weakened by the shock of the equipment incident, Suzie was powerless. No matter how hard she struggled, she couldn't break Lexi’s grip. Her face turned a deep red, and she began to gasp for air. Only then did Lexi release her.

Lexi’s voice rang out again. “Hmph! So weak? Is this the pathetic, seductive act you used to lure Jamie?”

Suzie lifted her chin. Her face was still flushed from being choked, and her eyes were red and swollen. She looked fragile and pitiful, yet her beauty was undiminished. But when she looked at Lexi and Chloe, her eyes were completely cold.

Slowly, everything clicked into place.

One of them hated her because of a man; the other resented her because of professional jealousy. And now, even a fool could see they were thick as thieves. It was obvious: Chloe and Lexi had teamed up to ruin her, to make her life a living hell.
