Chloe’s brow twitched. She glanced at Jamie, who was smoking in the distance, then turned her gaze back to Suzie, a serene smile spreading across her face.

“You’re too kind, Mrs. Baylor,” she said sweetly as she stood up, her voice just loud enough to carry a hint of smug triumph. “I sleep very well, thank you.”

Suzie’s eyes darkened, her response sharp. “Chloe, the law has a long reach. Do you really think you’ve gotten away with this?”

Without waiting for a reply, Suzie turned and walked over to Mia, who had been standing silently this whole time. She took her hand and led her to the restroom.

“Suzie…” The moment the door closed behind them, Mia squeezed Suzie’s hand tightly, her voice choked with emotion.

Suzie gently patted her arm. “It’s okay, Mia. Don’t worry, I’m fine now.”

She locked the door before adding, “You were the one who contacted Jamie, weren't you?”

Mia wiped away tears of joy. “Yes. Suzie, I knew you would never do something so malicious. I wanted to help, but I don’t know anyone powerful. I had no other choice, so I thought of Mr. Baylor. I figured, even if you’re divorced, you once loved each other and lived together. Besides, from everything I’ve seen in the news, he doesn’t seem like a heartless person.
