The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 184

Her face was tightly cupped in his large, warm hands, her reddened lips distorted by the pressure.

Through her blurry vision, she could see Jamie’s face, still contorted with rage.

She remained silent for a long moment before a faint whisper escaped her trembling lips. “Jamie, listen carefully, because I’m only going to say this one last time. First, that woman is not me. Even if she has my face, she is not me. Second, the babies are yours.”

“You’ve never trusted me. Not in the past, and not now. If you insist on sending me to that operating room today, then unless I die on that table, I will sue you until you’re in prison, until your reputation is in ruins. From this day forward, you and I will be enemies for life.”

Suzie said it all in one breath, the light gone from her eyes.

She slowly closed them, as if hopelessly awaiting her slaughter at his hands.

Jamie’s brow was furrowed tightly, and his hoarse voice sounded again. “Suzie, don’t you think you’re being ridiculous? Why do you think I divorced you? Why do you think I wouldn’t sleep with you? And why do you think I don’t believe you?”

With her eyes closed, Suzie felt completely numb. His words no longer stirred anything in her. Her voice came out as cold as ice. “Isn’t it because of your childhood sweetheart, Chloe? Jamie… enough. Let’s just end everything here.”

She spoke with an air of nonchalance, not even bothering to open her eyes, but the despair in her calm tone was unmistakable.

At her words, Jamie silently let her go.

With no support, Suzie slid down the wall, finally slumping onto the floor in a heap.

Immediately, she heard Jamie’s equally cold voice. “A fine way to end everything.”

With that, Jamie straightened his clothes, put the photos away, picked up the DNA report, and slowly walked to the door.

Before leaving, he glanced back at the woman on the floor, the sharpness in his gaze undiminished.

Just as she had expected. Two burly men who looked like bodyguards stood before her.

“We’ve been ordered to escort you out. Please cooperate.”

Leaning against the wall, Suzie slowly lifted her pale face and asked coldly, “What are your names?”

The two bodyguards exchanged a look, confused by her question.

But eager to carry out Jamie’s orders, they stated their names.

A small smile touched Suzie’s lips. She lowered her head again and spoke to her belly. “Babies, did you get that? Today, we won’t let a single person involved get away with this. Okay?”
