The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 254

Back at Bravo Ads Agency, Stella finally relaxed once she was certain Jamie was gone for good. She pulled the burner phone from under the collar of her shirt.

Thank goodness she usually tucked her shirt into her pants, or the phone would have slipped to the floor. If that maniac Jamie had snatched it, her secret would have been completely exposed.

She leaned back in her chair, letting out a long sigh as her mind replayed the events at the Starlite Center, when Suzie had found her in the restroom.

*The scene shifted to the restroom moments after Suzie had entered...*

Suzie slipped into a stall, and Stella immediately passed her the disguise: a long, hooded sun shirt, sunglasses, a mask, and a baseball cap.

Once Suzie had changed, tucking her hair neatly into the cap, Stella handed her a pair of different shoes from her backpack.

After Suzie was fully disguised, she noticed Stella's backpack was empty and typed on her phone, "Stella, did you forget to bring a set for yourself?"

Stella typed back, "I was already wearing this sleeveless dress when I came in, and I just put on this shirt. It's fine. Take the things you were carrying out of the bag and put them in the backpack. Throw the shopping bag on top of the trash can here."

Suzie quickly did as instructed, placing her own purse inside the backpack before slinging it over her shoulder.

"Let's go, Stella," Suzie whispered, taking her friend's hand.

Just as they were about to step out of the stall, Stella pulled her back. She leaned in close and whispered in her ear, "As your friend, I have to ask one last time. Are you absolutely sure about all this? Is this your final decision?"

Suzie followed Stella's gaze down to her stomach and gently placed a hand over her belly.

Though tears welled in Suzie's eyes, her expression was full of unwavering resolve.
