The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 255

Though she had finally broken free from that man, the road ahead for a mother and her children would be anything but easy.

The thought made Stella's heart ache for Suzie. She was such a good person who had endured hardship since childhood, only to find herself in such an unhappy marriage as an adult.

Lost in their own thoughts, it wasn't long before Stella turned the car into a parking garage and found a spot.

After turning off the engine, Stella turned to face Suzie, her expression somber. "Suzie... I have some bad news. That check... you can't cash it. It was only valid for ten days, which means it's void now."

Stella spoke slowly, afraid of upsetting Suzie, but she knew she had to tell her.

Suzie was stunned for a moment but quickly regained her composure. The most important thing was that she no longer had to worry about repaying Jamie for the damaged equipment.

That was a huge relief. She had her own savings, which would be enough to get by for now. She would just take things one step at a time.

"It's okay, Stella," Suzie said gently. "Without that huge debt hanging over my head, I don't have to worry about you getting dragged into this. I still have some money, and the cost of living in Cherryblossom Town isn't high. I can manage."

Stella nodded repeatedly, taking Suzie's hand. "Good, I'm glad you see it that way. And you still have me, don't forget. Don't you worry, our precious boys won't go hungry."

Stella then began scanning the area outside the car, as if searching for something.

After a moment, she pointed to a spot in the distance. "Suzie, Oliver is in that black SUV over there. He'll drive you to the town. I have to get back to the office right away. Jamie's first stop will be my office when he finds out you're gone. If I'm not mistaken, he already knows. I'm not afraid of him causing trouble for me, but if he starts watching me, it will be impossible for me to slip away and visit you. Go on now. You can trust Oliver; he's reliable."
