The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 273

“Could you give one to me?” It was such a brilliant piece of work. She could use it in her portfolio for future job interviews, adding another style to her repertoire and giving her an edge wherever she went.

Hayden feigned a haughty expression. “After the cold shoulder you gave me earlier, I’ll have to think about it.”

Suzie broke into a smile. “Anyone would be cautious with a stranger, wouldn’t they? Besides…” She started to say that she lived alone but thought better of it, changing her tack. “Besides, your level of enthusiasm is a little intimidating.”

“See? You’re perfectly chatty,” Hayden pointed out. “Why do you insist on keeping everyone at arm’s length?”

Just as he finished speaking, the nanny walked in. She glanced suspiciously from Suzie to the stranger in their yard as she closed the gate behind her.

“Could you please get our guest something to drink?” Suzie requested gently.

The nanny hesitated for a second before nodding. “Of course… I’ll be right back.”

Hayden beamed. “Alright, since you’re getting me a drink, I’ll let you have this one. But on one condition.”

Suzie frowned. “What is it?”

Hayden gestured toward the pile of gifts. “There. You take the photo, you have to take these, too. If you feel bad about it, you can always give me something in return.”

Suzie was speechless.

With a twinkle in his eye, Hayden added, “Relax, I’m just kidding. By the way, where’s your husband? I haven’t seen him around.”

As he spoke, he pulled a business card and several official-looking documents from his bag and handed them to Suzie.

She took them slowly. It was Timefly Studio!

She remembered seeing their name when she was job hunting before. At the time, she had her heart set on Lumina Studio and hadn’t given them a second thought. After failing to get into Lumina, she had ended up at Mirage Studio through Oliver’s arrangement.

Suzie looked over the documents. Just as she recalled, though the studio hadn’t been open for long, it was twice the size of Lumina Studio. And the charming, handsome young man sitting before her was its owner.

Suzie didn’t mention her previous work history. After a moment of silence, she said, “This is… I’m sorry, but I don’t think I’d be up to the task.”
