The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 278

“Miss, your bill is ready. The cashier is straight ahead and to the right,” the salesclerk’s voice pulled Suzie from her thoughts.

Suzie stopped the video recording and took the receipt. Just as she was about to get up and leave, the man spoke.

“Miss, I have a membership card here. It’ll get you a discount if you’d like to use it.”

Suzie shot him a cold glance. “You should save it for your little mistress. The one she picked looks like the crown jewel of the store. A bigger discount will save you some cash.”

The woman beside him exploded. “What is wrong with you? I let you have the bracelet you wanted, and you’re still calling me a mistress? Do you want me to scratch your face up?”

“I doubt it.” Suzie stood tall, casually tucking a strand of hair behind her ear as she delivered the cool retort.

That was the last straw for the woman, who lunged forward to strike Suzie. But the man grabbed her arm, hissing in a low voice, “Have you made enough of a scene? This place is crowded. Do you want someone to film this and ruin my reputation?”

The woman reluctantly lowered her arm, muttering, “I came out for a happy shopping trip. Why should I have to put up with this?”

“This young lady was looking at the bracelet before we were,” the man chided. “You’re the one who just grabbed it without thinking. Of course you’d make her angry.”

“You… Myron! Why are you taking her side now? What did I do to deserve this?”

Suzie glanced at the bickering pair before walking right past them.

When she arrived at Oliver’s villa, she stepped inside and immediately asked, “Oliver, how’s Helen?”
