Dr. Solomon didn't know Suzie's true intentions. He assumed this was just casual chatter to build rapport, so he spoke with evident pride.
"I'm not just blowing my own horn here, but we've consistently held the number one spot in the industry. Our plastic surgery techniques have always been hailed as literal face-swapping..."
Suzie met his gaze calmly. Then, she flashed a soft smile.
"I've certainly seen the results, Dr. Solomon. Excuse me for a moment. Could you have a nurse show us to Dr. Thomas's office? It's been a while, and I'm a bit lost."
"Of course, of course. When you two are done with your consultation, remember to come back and sit with me for a bit. I'll make us some coffee," Dr. Solomon replied, his face still plastered with a welcoming smile.
Chester followed Suzie out the door. Once Suzie asked the nurse for directions to Thomas's office, she dismissed her.
As soon as the nurse was out of earshot, Chester, who had been holding his tongue for half the day, finally spoke up.
"You're so smart. Why in the world were you working as a maid at the Baylor Manor?"
Suzie glanced at him and smoothly changed the subject.
"You did me a huge favor today. I'll make it up to you soon."
After speaking, Suzie scanned the hallway. Once she was sure no one was walking by, she added,
"If I end up crossing Dr. Solomon, will it cause trouble for you?"
"Whatever. Whoever you piss off, I've got your back."
Chester crossed his arms over his chest, his tone unwavering. The way he looked at her held a distinct gleam of fascination.
"Thanks in advance, then." Suzie didn't pay much attention to his expression, her mind already racing with the implications of everything going on.
When the two of them reached Thomas's office, the doctor happened to be free.
Suzie continued to engage with him under the guise of Suzanne.
Seeing that she had successfully stepped into the role, Suzie didn't want to waste another second.
She recorded the conversation using the same hidden camera method she had employed earlier.
She skillfully steered the chat to get Thomas to narrate the entire process of Suzanne's surgery.
Once she had what she needed, Suzie asked politely,
"Dr. Thomas, everyone who sees your work praises it. They all say it's literally a new face. I came here today for two reasons. First, I needed Dr. Solomon to help write up a receipt. And second, I wanted to ask..."
She deliberately lowered her voice and leaned in to add more,
"Dr. Thomas, do you have any particularly exceptional 'reference templates' available? I have a very close girlfriend who used to be just as plain as I was, and now she is absolutely dying of jealousy. She's begged me multiple times to connect her with you. Since I just got back to the country and settled in, I came straight to see you."
Saying this, Suzie casually rubbed her thumb, index, and middle fingers together in a universal gesture for money, offering a faint smile.
