The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 345

"Hello. My name is Suzanne. I had some reconstructive work done at your clinic a while back."

Chester practically choked on air. He was completely bewildered as to why she would introduce herself using that name, but remembering her strict warning from earlier, he clamped his mouth shut and played along.

Dr. Solomon's smile widened warmly. "A pleasure to have you back, Ms. Baird. What can we do for you today?"

He leaned in slightly, studying her face with genuine professional awe. "Which one of our surgeons performed this procedure? I'm honestly astounded. It doesn't look like you've gone under the knife at all!"

Hiding every ounce of disgust boiling under her skin, she seamlessly played the part. "Dr. Thomas handled my case. I was very pleased with his work. I came in today to consult with him about making a few minor adjustments right around here."

She lazily tapped a random spot on her cheekbone, feigning dissatisfaction.

Dr. Solomon scrutinized the area, looking slightly baffled. "In my professional opinion, the symmetry is already flawless. But, of course, you are welcome to consult with Dr. Thomas about specifics."

"Right. Your system shares patient files across the network, correct?" She leaned in, lowering her voice conspiratorially. "Here's the situation, Dr. Solomon. My company just introduced a new healthcare reimbursement policy. I need you to pull my surgical records, print them out, and sign a document confirming my procedures were strictly due to physical trauma. If I submit that, I'm looking at a massive financial payout. Once the check clears, I'll split it with you fifty-fifty."

The doctor's eyes darted toward Chester, a greedy smile breaking through his professional facade, though he maintained his polite rhetoric. "Oh, I couldn't possibly accept that. Since you are a dear friend of Mr. Lambert, that makes you a friend of mine. It's a trivial request. I'll print the file for you right now."

Chester finally caught on to her scheme. She was here to secure hard evidence. Eager to help, he immediately chimed in. "Thank you for the courtesy, Dr. Solomon. I'll make sure my father treats you to a private dinner to show our gratitude."

"The honor would be all mine. Please, just give me a moment."

Sharing a brief, knowing look, the two of them retreated to the plush leather sofa.

Chester sneakily flashed her a giant thumbs-up.

Given the close proximity between the seating area and the executive desk, he wisely kept his mouth shut.

By the time they finished their coffee, Dr. Solomon practically bounded over, reverently offering up the signed paperwork. "Here you are, Ms. Baird. Keep this safe. And on a personal note, regarding the area near your ear you mentioned earlier... I strongly advise against any further procedures. It truly is perfect."

Suzie nodded, politely acknowledging his advice. She rose gracefully, accepting the documents and sliding them securely into her purse. A chilling, half-mocking smile crept onto her face as she looked the man dead in the eye. "Tell me, Dr. Solomon. After reviewing my surgical history just now... what are your thoughts on the matter?"
