The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 362

The necklace in front of her was indeed incredibly important to her.

Margaret had once mentioned she had worn it ever since she was a baby.

Could the necklace have been tucked into her swaddling clothes when Margaret switched the babies?

Was it a lucky charm her birth parents had given her to celebrate her birth?

If she showed it to the Lockwood family—the family whose child was swapped with her—would they recognize it?

Then again, a woman vicious enough to swap babies wouldn't hesitate to throw away something left by her birth parents, right?

Regardless, it was a clue.

As Suzie's thoughts drifted, she suddenly heard Jamie say,

"You can take it even if you don't answer."

Suzie stared at his outstretched arm. The gentle tone in his voice even carried a hint of sincerity.

She eyed him suspiciously, her gaze full of disbelief.

Had this jerk swapped souls with someone else? When did he become like this?

She slowly reached out to take it, thinking that if he pulled his hand back again, she'd lunge at him and pull his hair, giving him a taste of the lessons Margaret had beaten into her.

But he didn't move. She took it.

Masking her joy and excitement, Suzie immediately opened it. The necklace was resting perfectly intact inside!

She quickly snapped the velvet box shut, shoved it into her bag, and replied to Jamie in a flat tone,

"You probably won't believe me anyway, but I've worn this necklace since I was a baby. That's all I know. Goodbye."

With that, Suzie opened the door and walked out without looking back.

Aaron watched respectfully as they left before stepping into the private room.

At that moment, several pairs of feet appeared in Suzie's line of sight.

"My sister..." Stewart's voice grew even weaker.

Suzie's eyes darted between Stewart and the malicious-looking men standing before her, a chill creeping into her heart. She had never been in a situation like this. What should she do? Why hadn't anyone called the cops?!

"Sister? You're Stewart's sister?!" a burly, thuggish-looking man sneered from the group.

Mia could feel how tense Suzie was. Though she was terrified herself, she gathered every ounce of courage and answered, her voice trembling,

"He... he's got the wrong person. We don't know him."

With that, Mia decisively bent down to pry Stewart's bloody hands off Suzie's clothes.

But Stewart only gripped tighter, clutching at her with the desperate strength of a dying man grasping a lifeline.

His body looked battered and broken. He knelt slumped on the ground, seemingly ready to pass out at any second, rambling incoherently in agony.
