The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 370

Mia's attitude naturally aligned with Suzie's, and she even found herself mirroring her boss's tone. She replied composedly,

"Yes, Aaron. I should thank you for that time. But why do you still call Suzie 'Mrs. Baylor'? They've been divorced for a long time, haven't they? If people hear you calling her that, it could reflect badly on her."

Aaron smiled faintly, looking a bit awkward. "Habit, my apologies. How long... have you been working for her?"

Mia retorted haughtily, "Don't think you can fish for information from me. No comment."

Aaron persisted, "Can't you tell our Mr. Baylor is still hung up on her?"

Mia fired back bluntly,

"No, I can't! And so what if he is? There's no shortage of men admiring our Suzie. Your Mr. Baylor is only a big deal in your eyes."

Aaron was left speechless.

Recalling this, Mia felt a surge of secret delight.

She thought it was incredibly satisfying to talk tough, just like Suzie.

If she could maintain that kind of backbone for the rest of her life, she'd certainly never need calming pills again.

Her spirits rising, Mia said,

"Suzie, stop worrying. Whatever comes, we'll handle it! Just think about your little cuties waiting for you at home—doesn't that warm your heart? I never used to like kids. I always thought raising them was the hardest thing in the world. I even planned to just work hard in the city, buy a small apartment when I could afford it, and stay happily single forever."

Mia swallowed and continued enthusiastically,

"But your little sweethearts are just so healing. I miss them if I don't see them for a day. And whenever I see you guys together, the world just feels so warm and beautiful. Stella mentioned to me before that you went through a lot of hardship because you insisted on keeping them... but Suzie, you made the right choice! Now, not only do you adore them, but even I think there's nothing more precious in the world!"

Mia's words successfully coaxed a gentle, happy smile onto Suzie's face.

Suddenly remembering the wound on her arm, Suzie grabbed a light jacket hanging in the entryway and slipped it on. She quickly changed her shoes and stepped inside.

Feeling a bit anxious, she asked,

"Hayden? Did you need me for something?"

Usually, if Hayden picked the kids up from school and played with them for a while, he'd go home afterward.

For him to still be waiting for her at this hour... had he found out about the lawsuit?

Indeed, Hayden's face lacked its usual cheerful demeanor; he actually looked somewhat grave.

He glanced at Mia behind Suzie and asked gently,

"Were you and Mia out on business? Why are you back so late?"
