The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 372

Suzie walked him to the entryway. After putting on his shoes, Hayden rested his hand on the doorknob and paused.

He turned back, studying Suzie for a moment before speaking. "Suzie? You know I've always seen you as my own sister. If something's going on, you can't hide it from me."

Suzie was just forming a smile to say "nothing is going on," when Hayden added, "I have a lot more power than you realize. I can handle whatever it is."

Hearing those words, Suzie felt an embarrassing sting in her nose and almost teared up. Even though they weren't blood relatives, he gave her the warmth of a real brother.

Fate was a strange thing. When she first met Hayden, she thought he was just another wealthy playboy flirting around. Even when he showed up at her door, she assumed he had an ulterior motive. But later, she learned he genuinely loved photography and simply admired her work. Over time, she had grown to feel completely at ease around him.

"Why are you crying at your age?" Hayden teased gently. "Did something happen? If you don't tell me, I'm just going to ask... Did he find you?"

"No, I'm just happy to have gained a brother. Go on, get home. Drive safe," Suzie quickly wiped the corner of her eyes, forcing a lighthearted tone.

Hayden looked half-convinced. "Are you sure everything's okay?"

Suzie nodded firmly, her voice crisp. "Of course. Go home. I'll see you at the office tomorrow."

"Alright. Get some rest."

Only after Hayden left did Suzie let out a breath of relief. She walked back into the living room and looked at Mia gently.

"It seems he really doesn't know. Let's see if we can get past this legal trouble in the next couple of days. Please don't breathe a word to him."

Mia bit her lip. "Suzie, he actually asked me just now. I didn't tell him. But honestly..."

Alice really had come back early! Why hadn't she told Hayden? Why did she want to meet in secret? Had something happened?

Suzie's mind drifted back to the scene at the Feast of Dreams. That was Alice! Who had she gone there to meet?

...

Next morning. The weather was bright and clear.

The house was filled with the adorable, healing voices of the toddlers as they woke up. Mia eagerly took over the nannies' duties, running around happily to help them get washed up.

Suzie had woken up half an hour earlier. After quickly freshening up, she headed straight to the kitchen to make a hearty breakfast of all their favorites. She had promised to eat with them the night before and missed it, and it had been weighing on her mind.
