The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 388

The sudden push forward from the irate woman, combined with the security guards scrambling to block her, created a chaotic bottleneck at the entrance.

Chester instantly reacted, raising his arms to create a protective barrier behind Suzie and Stella to ensure they wouldn't get bumped.

Frowning in annoyance, he snapped at the guards, "Your crowd control is a joke. I'm filing a complaint the second I get inside."

Panicked by the threat from a VIP, the security guards immediately apologized and forcefully grabbed the woman by the arms, dragging her toward the side.

"Let me go!" she shrieked.

That voice.

Suzie turned her head. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she recognized the furious face. It was Lexi.

The same Lexi who had conspired with Chloe Lockwood to frame her, only to be thrown under the bus by Chloe and sent to jail.

Given the relatively minor nature of her charges, it made sense that she was already out.

Releasing Stella's arm, Suzie walked unhurriedly toward the scuffle.

Stella instantly followed, with Chester trailing right behind them like a loyal bodyguard.

"Lexi. It's been a while."

Suzie stood tall, her posture immaculate, her voice holding a cool, detached sense of authority.

Hearing a familiar voice, Lexi whipped her head around. The anger on her face instantly morphed into utter shock, followed by a storm of complicated emotions.

In the past, Suzie had always been soft-spoken and fragile. Now, she carried herself like a hardened, successful businesswoman. Her gown, her jewelry—everything screamed old money.

Lexi's mind raced. Was everything Chloe had told her a lie? Did Suzie never actually divorce Jamie Baylor? If she had, how could a weak girl like Suzie be thriving like this?

Lexi's eyes darted to the man hovering fiercely behind Suzie. He ignored the entire crowd, his gaze locked entirely on Suzie with undeniable devotion.

More confusion swirled in Lexi's mind.

Ignoring Suzie's comment about her temper, Lexi stared hard at her and demanded, "Have you seen Chloe Lockwood at all these past few years?"

Suzie could hear the gritted teeth behind the question. Her brows lifted slightly. "What? Your 'best friend' sent you to prison and never bothered to visit you?"

The color completely drained from Lexi's face.
