The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 391

Suzie spoke earnestly. "Stella, she's arrogant. You'll be hard-pressed to hear a 'thank you' from her, especially given our history... Anyway, let's head inside first. Don't worry, I know what I'm doing."

Stella nodded, then glanced back at Chester Lambert. "Shall we? Or are you planning to work as the bouncer tonight?"

Chester raised an eyebrow, catching up to them with long strides. He chuckled. "You know, it makes perfect sense why you two are friends. One of you is fierce, and the other is freezing cold..."

Stella shot him a glare but didn't reply.

Suzie didn't even look back, her steps light and graceful as she walked in.

Chester slowed his pace, trailing slightly behind so he could openly admire her. Her champagne-colored, form-fitting gown hugged her perfect curves. The backless design revealed luminous, flawless skin that dipped down to a slender, perfectly sculpted waist...

Deciding it would be ungentlemanly to let his gaze linger *too* far down, he forced his eyes past her hips to her legs.

The tailored hem of her dress caught the ambient light, shimmering with her every elegant step...

His mind was suddenly racing with words like *breathtaking*, *graceful*, and *ethereal*. Basically, he was completely at a loss for words.

As they entered the venue, Suzie noticed the crowd and discreetly guided them toward a quieter corner to take in the room.

The space was magnificent. Crystal chandeliers hung like constellations, casting a soft, dreamlike glow over the different sections. Ornate frescoes and elegant moldings glittered at every turn, dripping with the undeniable scent of old money.

The massive ballroom was packed with elites from every industry. The men were in sharp, tailored suits, and the women wore dazzling evening gowns, mingling politely in small, sophisticated groups...

Chester, who had been standing silently nearby, couldn't hear a word over the booming music.

He stepped closer, loudly interrupting their whispering.

"Should we go find a seat? We look like the hired help just standing here by the door."

Before either could respond, he smoothly added,

"Ms. Sterling, if you're worried about unwanted attention from the other men, you're welcome to take my arm..."
