The same woman who had tried to snatch the bracelet right out from under her, whining and acting spoiled...
The moment she touched him, Myron immediately yanked his arm back, his voice dropping into a harsh hiss.
"Didn't I tell you to stay over there? Stop trailing after me."
He kept his voice low, but everyone heard it loud and clear.
Surprisingly obedient, the woman immediately dropped her hands and straightened her posture.
Back at the mall, Suzie had been disguised in a hat, mask, and glasses, so neither Myron nor this woman recognized her now.
"Mrs. Wycliffe, this is my plus-one for the evening, Ms. Larissa Lowell. Please, don't misunderstand," Myron said, plastering on a greasy smile.
Sensing his sudden shift in tone, Larissa offered Suzie and Chester a polite, albeit confused, nod.
Suzie gave him a flat stare. The man was openly parading his mistress around while trying to play the respectable businessman. He was absolutely shameless.
Still, she could use this to her advantage.
As long as she kept her mouth shut about his little sidepiece, he'd likely keep her identity as the mother behind "Sugar Buddies" a secret.
Myron was a ruthless businessman; he understood the unspoken rules of mutually assured destruction.
Masking her disgust, Suzie offered him a flawless, practiced smile.
"You're overthinking it, Mr. Finch. It's a gala; everyone brings a date. There's nothing to misunderstand."
"Yes, yes, quite right, Mrs. Wycliffe,"
Myron agreed, practically bowing in submission to her words.
Unwilling to waste another second on him, Suzie took Chester's arm and steered him away.
Suzie remained silent, effectively giving him a non-answer, which he took as tacit permission to drop it.
She had to hand it to Jamie—the man's lips were sealed tight. From their marriage to their divorce, he had never even mentioned her true identity to his closest friends.
In his eyes, she truly was a dirty little secret, unfit for the light of day...
The thought sparked a sudden fire of rebellion. She slipped her arm back through Chester's, pressing much closer this time.
She didn't even care about using him as a calculated pawn anymore.
Jamie had dropped the lawsuit, and she was leaving Timefly Studio anyway.
She wanted to see what he could possibly use as leverage against her now!
If he could live his life so freely and shamelessly, why should she cower in the shadows? Why constantly look over her shoulder?
