Disgusted whispers quickly escalated into outright jeers.
"Thief! She's a thief!"
Lexi was trapped. Even if she had a hundred mouths, she couldn't talk her way out of this.
Forgetting whoever had shouted the damning secret to kick her while she was down, she furiously slapped the table.
"I didn't steal it! Stop making things up! Check the security cameras! You'll see I walked in here wearing it!"
But Larissa was out for blood. She didn't care what Lexi was saying.
Lunging forward, she grabbed the bracelet on Lexi's wrist and yanked hard.
"Stop your pathetic lying and give it back to me!" she shrieked, looking ready to rip Lexi to pieces.
Lexi wasn't about to back down. She dug her nails into Larissa's hand. From the tight clench of her jaw, it was obvious she was using every ounce of her strength.
With a yelp of pain, Larissa let go of the bracelet and immediately grabbed a fistful of Lexi's hair, pulling viciously.
Humiliated and enraged, Lexi shoved her away with everything she had.
It was a fatal move.
Larissa was teetering on sky-high stilettos, completely unprepared for the force.
She shrieked, stumbling backward wildly before her ankle gave out with a sickening *crack*, crashing into a nearby table.
In a split second, Larissa hit the floor hard.
Glasses shattered, and a cascade of colorful alcohol soaked her cream-colored gown, dying it into a grotesque, tie-dye mess.
Stella scoffed. "Two wild animals going at it. The weaker one always loses. Let them tear each other apart—let's go get some real food."
She reached for Suzie's arm but paused, looking at her long glove.
"Aren't you hot in those elbow-length lace gloves? They don't exactly match the dress."
"Not really. I think it looks nice."
Suzie smiled smoothly. She had almost forgotten about the fresh wound on her arm. The glove was strictly there to hide the thick flesh-colored bandages so she wouldn't have to explain the gruesome details to Stella...
"It hurts! Myron, my ankle is broken! Ahhh!"
Larissa's agonizing wails snapped Suzie back to reality.
She turned to see Myron Finch pushing his way to the front of the crowd, panting heavily.
