The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 399

Seeing his date in such a wretched state, Myron didn't bother asking if she was okay or who had done it. Instead, he started barking at the security guards to clear the crowd.

But the guests were wealthy and powerful; the guards didn't dare lay a hand on anyone.

A few people, however, decided the drama had become too trashy and drifted away on their own.

Red in the face, Myron turned his fury on Larissa.

"If I knew you were going to pull a stunt like this, I never would have brought you! Do you have any idea how important tonight is to me?! You've ruined everything! If the press gets photos of this, I'll be a laughingstock!"

"I'm injured, and you're yelling at me?! Do you even care about me at all?! I didn't start this! That bitch stole my bracelet and pushed me! Are you just going to let her get away with it?!"

Sobbing through the pain, Larissa jabbed a finger at Lexi, unleashing all her humiliation and rage on her furious boyfriend.

Hearing that, Myron slowly turned his cold, venomous gaze toward Lexi, who was currently thrashing against the guards.

Between the vicious hair-pulling and her current frantic struggling, Lexi looked absolutely unhinged.

Her meticulously styled hair was ripped out of its pins, sticking up at bizarre, comical angles thanks to a thick layer of hairspray. Hate, terror, and utter helplessness warred on her face.

As the hulking man marched toward her with murder in his eyes, Lexi's terror spiked.

Staring up into his cruel, fleshy face, she swallowed hard and forced herself to sound composed.

"Mr. Finch, right? You know Jamie Baylor, don't you? He's secretly keeping a woman, and I'm her best friend. If you lay a single finger on me, you'll be the one who pays for it..."

She had seen how Myron acted around Jamie earlier—bowing and scraping like a peasant before a king.

She banked on the fact that Myron needed Jamie's favor for business. Even if he didn't believe her completely, surely the name-drop would make him hesitate!

But the moment the words left her mouth, Myron yanked her hair even harder, sending a blinding spike of agony through her scalp!
