It was the first time Suzie had ever seen him speak to anyone with such genuine politeness. Was this not just a regular doctor, but a top specialist?
Suzie glanced at the man's ID badge. Dr. Kingsley. He was indeed a highly respected specialist.
Not wanting to cause a scene in front of the doctor, she kept her mouth shut. Dr. Kingsley offered a deferential nod to Jamie. "You're too kind, Mr. Baylor. If there's anything else you need moving forward, just have your assistant give the word. Even if I'm out of town for a medical conference, I'll ensure your team gets the utmost priority."
After a few more pleasantries, Jamie stepped aside, playing the perfect gentleman, and gestured for Suzie to go first.
But the moment she crossed the threshold, she spun around and snatched the medical forms right out of his hand.
"Oliver, where are the kids?" Without even waiting for Jamie to react, she marched straight up to Oliver.
"Take a seat. I'll go round them up," Oliver said with a gentle smile, already heading briskly down the hallway.
Suzie stood her ground. A second later, Jamie stepped up beside her. As soon as he stopped, he murmured, "Give me the paperwork. You'll need your hands free to hold her."
"Mia and Oliver are here to help," Suzie replied, her voice freezing over. "We have it handled. You aren't needed here."
"The other two boys need supervision, and Zoey needs comfort. Oliver isn't their father. Why is he even getting involved?" Jamie's tone was infuriatingly even as his long fingers closed over the edge of the file folder.
Suzie tugged back. He didn't fight her for it; he simply let his fingers open, releasing the file.
But a split second later, his hand closed firmly over hers—the hand holding the folder.
"Fine. Keep it. I'll just hold it like this."
Suzie stared at him in disbelief. *The absolute nerve of this man!*
She cursed him inwardly while trying to wrench her hand free. But since her grip was already tight around the folder, and she was nowhere near as strong as him, her struggling did absolutely nothing.
From down the hall came the unmistakable sound of three little voices chattering. Suzie tensed up and hissed, "Let go."
