Suzie froze.

Jamie Baylor, that absolute bastard. He had just successfully humiliated her in front of an entire medical team.

He was lying right behind her, completely shirtless, exactly where she had slept. And he was still fast asleep.

Her cheeks ignited, the burning heat making her feel like dying of embarrassment. She wanted to pull the blanket over her head and disappear.

She tried to pry his arm off her waist, but Jamie, still half-asleep, simply tightened his grip. With one swift tug, he pulled her back down onto the mattress and locked her tightly in his embrace.

"Ahem..." The attending physician cleared his throat, pressing a fist to his mouth. "How are you feeling today, Ms. Sterling? If you don't have any other symptoms, we'll just continue the IV after you have breakfast."

Pinned against the mattress, Suzie buried her face directly into the pillow and stammered, "F-fine. I feel fine."

The doctor nodded. "Alright then... we'll let you two... get some rest."

Suzie didn't dare reply. She just listened to the shuffling footsteps of the medical staff leaving the room, accompanied by hushed, giddy whispers.

Suzie was beyond mortified.

She had lost every shred of her dignity. Did they recognize him? If this leaked to the press...

Furious, she slapped his arm hard. "Get up!"

That was the wrong move. At her protest, he just hugged her tighter. He kept his eyes closed, his voice lazy and raspy. "I haven't slept this well in years. Give me five more minutes. I'm taking the day off."

Seeing how casually he was treating this, Suzie's anger flared into rage.

Didn't they come to an understanding last night? How dare he sneak into her bed while she was asleep?!
