Jamie slowly sat down next to her, his expression softening as he tried to offer comfort. "I believe her too," he said gently. "But right now, all the evidence is stacked heavily against her..."
"Evidence? I despise that word," she snapped, her brow furrowing deeply, her tone sharp with frustration.
Without waiting for a response, she stood up abruptly. The anxiety was radiating off her in waves. Taking a few deep breaths to steady herself, she grabbed her purse and practically sprinted toward the door.
Jamie immediately went after her. But just as he reached the corridor, he saw Oliver Cross hurrying in their direction.
Suzie came to a halt when she saw him. They exchanged a few quick words before turning together, their expressions grim, and heading straight for the elevators.
Jamie stopped in his tracks. He stood there for a long time, his eyes dark and unreadable as he watched them disappear down the hall, before finally forcing his feet to move.

As Suzie and Oliver rushed toward the parking garage, she glanced at him. "How did you know I was here?"
"Stella called me yesterday and told me they found you," he explained. "She said you had a high fever and promised to update me once you were settled in a room. But the call never came. Later, I couldn't even reach her. I asked Mia, but she just told me you needed to rest. She only gave me the hospital details this morning."
Suzie frowned. Mia must have worried that if Oliver showed up yesterday, it would cause a massive scene with Jamie.
