After rattling off her monologue, Mia cleared her throat, pointed straight at the mountain of extravagant gifts, and dropped her ultimate conclusion.
"If you ask me, you shouldn't return a single thing. Keep it all!"
Suzie frowned, thoroughly confused. "Why?"
"Oh, my sweet, innocent boss, how do you not get it? If you want to get rid of him, you have to stop showing him your perfect side! You need to let him see your 'flaws.' Be greedy. Be materialistic. Milk him for all he's worth! From now on, act like a gold-digger, a drama queen, or a total player. Honestly, whatever toxic trope you want to play, as long as you commit to the bit, I guarantee it will scare him off."
Suzie stared blankly at Mia for a moment before reaching out, grabbing both of her cheeks, and giving them a playful shake.
"You little menace, who on earth taught you all this?"
Mia giggled, reaching out to squish Suzie's cheeks in return. She tilted her head. "Brilliant, right?"
Suzie burst out laughing. She let go, then tapped Mia lightly on the forehead.
"Brilliant, my foot. You're going to ruin my reputation."
Mia looked entirely too proud of herself. "Hey, you're only acting like this in front of *him*! To the rest of the world, you're still our elegant, brilliant Suzie. Trust me, this will absolutely work."
Suzie didn't know whether to laugh or cry. After a long pause, she sighed. "Alright, fine. We'll give it a try."
