Either way, Suzie had no intention of ever using him to get back at Jamie again.
After a moment, Suzie poured Chester another cup of tea and began to explain slowly.
"The story between Jamie and me goes back a few years..."
From the moment the waiter served the appetizers to the point where the food had gone cold, Suzie laid out the gist of her and Jamie's history for Chester.
She even included the BBQ party at the Baylor Manor and exactly how she had ended up playing the role of a "maid."
Once she calmly finished the story, Suzie shrugged and said lightly, "So that's the truth of it. I'm telling you this because I consider you a friend. I hope you won't judge me too harshly."
After hearing Suzie's account, Chester sat frozen for a long while before finally processing it.
He and Jamie were such tight bros, yet Jamie hadn't breathed a single word about getting married—or divorced.
Had he planned to tell his friends after the wedding, but backed out because he suspected his wife of cheating right after tying the knot?
"So, you're saying the kids are his... Did you ever find out why the paternity test was wrong back then?" Chester asked, his voice low.
Suzie shook her head, her tone steady. "Jamie arranged everything. I had no way to investigate. And it came back wrong twice."
Chester let out a heavy sigh.
"Knowing his personality, it's... not surprising that he wanted to get rid of the kids at the time. He probably saw how heartbroken you were and couldn't go through with it in the end."
