"I'll handle the Lockwoods," Jamie said evenly.
"Understood, sir. Since Ms. Sterling isn't biologically a Lockwood, I suspect Margaret made an additional error during the baby switch—an error neither the Sterlings nor the Lockwoods are aware of. Mr. Lockwood hasn't reached out to Suzie since their last meeting. I can't tell if he's figured out she isn't actually his daughter."
Having voiced his theories, Aaron stood at attention by the desk, waiting for his boss's next directive.
Jamie's brow furrowed. He lit a cigarette, taking a slow drag before finally asking, "Anything else?"
"Yes, Mr. Baylor." Aaron nodded, shifting to the next item on his agenda. "We have a complete picture of the Vice President's illicit activities. But to truly bury him, we're missing one definitive piece of evidence."
Jamie clamped the cigarette between his teeth, glancing at the separate file Aaron offered. "What are we missing?" he asked coolly.
"Vice President Gene Dudley, Sales Manager Keegan Lynn, and Myron Finch from Starlight Entertainment have been using an exclusive private club owned by Finch to blackmail and assault new artists. And... the victims aren't just young women. There are men, too. This is based on whispers my team picked up during the investigation. I believe it's entirely accurate, but right now, we lack hard proof."
Jamie's eyes turned lethal as he stared at the dense text on the paper. After a beat, he issued a chilling command. "Bring Orion Hawthorne here."
Aaron hesitated, then voiced his concern. "Sir, forgive my overstepping, but if they're brazen enough to pull this off without any of the victims daring to go to the police, there must be someone incredibly powerful backing them. Are you... are you sure you want to wade into this mess? The embezzlement evidence we have on Dudley and Lynn is more than enough to put them away for years."
Jamie scoffed, his voice dropping to a dangerous, gravelly timber. "Is that so? Then this is the perfect opportunity to see exactly who this 'powerful' backer is."
Aaron fell silent.
"Get everything in place," Jamie ordered, his tone absolute ice. "We're tearing them down tonight. Go."
