The three of them exchanged glances and slowly made their way downstairs.
Stella let out a sigh. "Talk about a fall from grace. This used to be the affluent side of town, and she just said this is the only property she has left. Times really do change."
Suzie nodded in agreement, then asked, "Did you guys notice her reaction earlier? She didn't seem to recognize the necklace at all, did she?"
"Yeah, my gut says she's not the one," Stella replied. "Plus, she's a bit on the shorter side and has a darker complexion. Even though she's middle-aged now and carries herself well, you can tell her features weren't exactly striking in her youth. There's no way she could have given birth to someone who looks like you."
Oliver nodded. "I didn't think so either."
They hurried to the second address tied to the Yates name. However, the family no longer lived there. After asking a neighbor, they learned the family had moved, meaning they'd have to do more digging to track them down.
Deciding not to waste time, the trio headed straight for the third address. It was clearly an upscale, gated community.
When they arrived, the security was incredibly strict. The guards insisted they needed the homeowner's explicit approval before letting anyone through.
Oliver pulled his car over to the curb near the entrance. Suzie and Stella climbed back in so they could figure out a plan.
As they talked, Suzie caught sight of a car identical to Hayden's pulling up to the security gate.
She couldn't see the driver clearly and wasn't entirely sure it was him, but she quickly hopped out of Oliver's car and ran over to intercept it.
By the time she reached it, the car had already passed the barrier. Before Suzie could even wave it down, the vehicle rolled to a stop.
The window rolled down, revealing Alice Quinn in the driver's seat. She offered Suzie a warm smile. "Suzie? What are you doing here?"
"Alice?" Suzie bent down, smiling back. "I'm just here running an errand. Where are you off to?"
Did Alice live in this neighborhood?
From her angle, Suzie could see a young woman in the passenger seat. She looked somewhat familiar, but Suzie couldn't place her immediately.
