Suzie took a deep breath, turning to Stella. She kept her voice low. "Stella, I feel inexplicably nervous."

Before Stella could respond, Oliver walked over. "Look at the plaque on the gate. It says Number 27, 'The Wycliffe Family'!"

Seeing the deep frown on Oliver's face, Suzie asked softly, "Oliver? What's wrong?"

Oliver gestured for them to head over to a nearby bench in the community's park area.

Once they sat down, Oliver looked dead serious. "Suzie, the first time you met Hayden, wasn't he with his family? You said you took a group photo for them, right? Do you remember what his mother looked like?"

Suzie froze, her eyes widening. "The plaque says 'Wycliffe'. That's probably the husband's last name. Are you jumping to the conclusion that this is Hayden's family just based on that?"

Oliver shook his head. "If you hadn't just run into Alice Quinn at the gate, I probably wouldn't have made the connection."

To Oliver, this was earth-shattering news. He still thought Suzie and Hayden had actually dated. Sure, he had seen Hayden with Alice at the studio opening, but he hadn't gotten a chance to question Suzie about it because Jamie Baylor had shown up.

Over the past few days, Oliver hadn't reached out or pressed the issue. The only reason he'd even brought it up before was because he'd had a few drinks for liquid courage. Plus, he'd overheard Jamie in the stairwell claiming the kids were his—a truth Jamie apparently knew, but Suzie was entirely unaware of.

After a moment, Suzie replied, "Alice comes from a wealthy background too. It wouldn't be surprising if her family lived here. Besides, I didn't get a good look at that woman's face just now."
