Suzie stood there for a long time, turning the situation over in her head, but she couldn't figure out what Yasmine Calloway's angle could possibly be.
A few minutes later, she pulled the items she had 'stolen' from the Wycliffe house out of her bag and sealed them safely. Then she called Peter, the private investigator she had hired previously.
After giving him his instructions, Suzie was just about to leave the study when her phone buzzed.
It was Lionel Lockwood. She hadn't seen him since their last meeting, but he had been calling her quite frequently.
"Hello, Mr. Lockwood," Suzie answered politely.
Lionel's raspy voice came through the speaker. "Ms. Sterling, I wanted to ask about that photography project we discussed... have you had time to think it over?"
He punctuated the sentence with a few heavy coughs.
Suzie felt a complicated mix of emotions. If the Wycliffes were truly her biological parents, then the daughter they raised—Vivian, the girl sitting in Alice's car at the estate gates—was actually Lionel's biological daughter.
From the looks of it, the Lockwood family's fortunes had taken a massive hit. If the truth came out, would a pampered girl like Vivian even want to return to Lionel's struggling household?
Based on Vivian's elegant aura and designer clothes, the Wycliffes clearly doted on her. Suzie had also seen firsthand how protective and loving Hayden was toward her.
And then there was Chloe Lockwood, whose whereabouts were still entirely unknown.
Margaret's single moment of malice had destroyed multiple families and derailed so many lives.
The thought of it filled Suzie with a deep, heavy sigh.
"Mr. Lockwood," she began gently, "my studio just opened, so we have a bit of a backlog right now. I might not be able to fit you in until next month."
"That's completely fine," Lionel replied quickly, his tone deeply polite. "I'm in no rush. Just please save a spot for me. I'll find some time in the next couple of days to come by your studio and put down a deposit."
"Of course, Mr. Lockwood," Suzie agreed.
