"To repay you for saving my life, I will handle Myron Finch. I will make sure you don't end up in prison. Beyond that, we have nothing left to discuss."

She had thought about it all the way home. If she was going to step in, she needed to be crystal clear. It was better to state her motives plainly than let him delusionally believe she was doing it out of affection.

Jamie walked slowly to the edge of the desk, his voice softening. "Don't worry about it. He won't dare press charges."

"You're awfully confident about what he'll do. What about his wife?" Suzie challenged.
