The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 591

"Pip? Look who's here to see you!" Sharon Langley called out in a gentle, warm tone.

The teacher watching over the boy gave a polite nod and stepped out of the room. A little boy named Pip looked up from a massive pile of toys.

He looked to be about five years old, but surprisingly, his cheeks were still somewhat round—he didn't look nearly as emaciated or malnourished as Suzie had expected.

"Hi, Mr. Baylor," Pip said, struggling slightly to his feet as he walked toward Jamie.

Jamie immediately crouched down, pulling the little boy into a brief, comforting hug. "Pip, why haven't you been eating these past couple of days?" he asked with a faint, reassuring smile. "Are they not making your favorite foods?"

Pip just shook his head, keeping his lips sealed.

His anxious eyes flicked from Jamie to Suzie, who was standing nearby. Meeting the child's gaze, Suzie offered him a natural, warm smile.

When it came to children's eating habits, her daughter, Zoey, had gone through a similar phase where she completely refused to eat. She hadn't been sick, nor was she ruining her appetite with snacks. Suzie had poured over endless parenting books and medical journals back then, finally discovering that Zoey's refusal was rooted in an underlying psychological resistance to something in her environment.

Recalling the case studies she had read, Suzie's eyes naturally drifted toward the toys Pip had been playing with.

They were a highly realistic set of play kitchen and cooking toys. The massive pile of models included everything from vibrant fruits and vegetables to intricate cuts of meat.
