Suzie offered a faint smile. "Sienna, I'm not that soft, naive little girl anymore. Selling her a favor so she can survive—I have my own reasons for doing it."
Sienna blinked, then pointed an accusing finger at Suzie. "Look at you! I honestly thought her little crying-and-kneeling routine had guilt-tripped you into playing the saint again."
Suzie sighed softly. "She only came after me back then because she was terrified I was going to cost her everything. At the end of the day, her entire family relies on her to eat. She's hyper-defensive about her income because of them. That doesn't make her some irredeemable monster."
"Not a monster, maybe, but certainly not a good person either," Sienna countered. "I've been dead broke too, and you didn't see me trying to ruin anyone's life. But hey, if she and that other girl want to take down Chloe? Just stay out of the crossfire. Toss a match from the sidelines and let them tear each other apart. Don't judge me for being ruthless—in this industry, it's called self-preservation."
"You're not ruthless. You're right," Suzie smiled. Then she changed the subject. "By the way, what was it you wanted to talk to me about?"
Sienna smacked her forehead. "Ugh, my brain is completely fried after dealing with that girl."
She dug into her designer tote bag, pulled out a thick file, and handed it to Suzie. "Take a look at this project. I'm not going to lie—it's a side gig."
Suzie was taken aback. "Sienna, that's a massive industry taboo. If anyone at Lumina Studio finds out, you won't just lose your job, your entire reputation will be blacklisted."
Sienna's expression darkened, and she let out a bitter sigh. "Management squeezes every last drop out of us. Why shouldn't we take outside work? Don't worry, I know exactly what I'm doing."
"It's just too risky. Why don't you just quit and come work with me?" Suzie offered, genuinely concerned.
Sienna waved the offer away with a warm but dismissive gesture. "Just read the proposal first. I promise I've got it covered. Don't stress."
