The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 607

Sienna’s eyes turned red, and she gave a small sniffle.

"You know my husband died in an accident years ago. His parents... they were always so wonderful to me, and they absolutely adored our kid. He was their only child. When he passed, I realized his parents had no pensions and zero savings. If I didn't step up, they'd have nothing. So, it's just been me. One woman, providing for four aging parents and a child."

Sienna let out a heavy, shuddering sigh before continuing.

"I’ve worked myself to the bone all these years, and honestly, the income was great. Supporting all of them wasn’t breaking me. They live frugally, they never complain, and my kid is an angel. My master plan was to finally buy a big house so all the grandparents could live together comfortably, make it easier for me to take care of everyone, and then send my kid to a great college abroad. But... life had other plans. My dad got sick."

Her voice broke, and she had to swallow hard before she could finish.

"Once my dad got sick, I finally understood what people mean when they say a hospital is a black hole for money. You watch your entire life savings just vanish, day by day. So... forget the big house. Forget the college fund. Paying for my dad's treatments has already wiped out more than half of everything I’ve ever saved."

Suzie sat there, completely paralyzed by the weight of Sienna’s words.

She had always admired Sienna as this fiercely independent, highly successful professional. Even as a widow, she always looked so polished, navigating the industry with effortless grace. Suzie had no idea that behind closed doors, Sienna was carrying the crushing weight of two entire families on her shoulders.

Suzie reached out and gently rested her hand on Sienna’s shoulder.

Sienna offered a bitter, exhausted smile. "Honestly, Suzie... I think I finally believe in fate. I really do."

The sheer, bone-deep weariness in her voice made Suzie’s heart ache. Over the last few years, even though they hadn't seen each other often, they talked all the time. Sienna had been an invaluable mentor to her, and their bond was second only to Suzie’s friendship with Stella Vance.

After a long moment of silence, Suzie spoke softly.

"Sienna, I love the proposal. If you need a corporate entity to back it, we can use my studio's seal. As for the money—I don't need it. You keep the whole thing. And if you need me physically on set to sell the lie, I’ll go with you."
