The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 76

Half a month later, at Mirage Studio, Suzie was reviewing some documents when her assistant, Mia, rushed over to her desk. Lowering her voice, she reported excitedly, “Suzie, look! The Baylor Group is using all of your work! Your posters are all over the digital screens on that luxury pedestrian street downtown.”

Mia’s face was a mixture of excitement and envy as she gently nudged Suzie’s arm and handed her a printed copy of one of the posters.

Suzie put down her files and took the poster, examining it closely. The final product was even more stunning than she had imagined. A wave of joy and confidence washed over her. Having not touched a camera in two years, she had been secretly nervous during the shoot, but now she could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

“You’re going to be rich, Suzie!” Mia exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with admiration. “This one project is worth what most photographers make in years. You’re incredible! Not only are you beautiful, but your photography skills are even better than the senior photographers in our studio.”

Suzie offered a faint smile, folded the poster, and said softly, “I’m not as good as you say. I’m just glad I didn’t mess up the job. You were a huge help through all of this, too.”

“Oh, stop being so modest,” Mia chirped happily. “I barely did anything. I feel lucky just being able to work with you.”

Suzie smiled at Mia’s cheerful demeanor and gently tapped her nose. “You really do know how to flatter people. By the way, Mia, has Lexi been causing any more trouble?”

Mia quickly shook her head. “Nope, not at all. If she dared to make a scene, Mr. Young would probably kick her out of the studio. And even if he did, she wouldn’t leave. She knows exactly what she’d be giving up if she walked away from a senior photographer position here.”

Suzie nodded thoughtfully. She had expected Lexi to keep making a fuss, but it seemed Harrison had handled it.

Just then, Harrison walked over and placed a bank card on her desk. “Congratulations, Suzie,” he said with a small smile.

After thanking him, she wanted to ask about Lexi but hesitated and held her tongue.

Harrison, not noticing her hesitation, continued, “You can head home early today. And as a bonus, I’m giving you a three-day vacation.”

Suzie’s face lit up as she thanked him again. Three days off plus the weekend meant she could finally get some proper rest. She had been pushing herself so hard to finish the project that she’d started to worry about her health. If it weren’t for the extra assistants Harrison had assigned her and Mia’s sharp intuition, the workload would have been twice as heavy.

The vacation couldn’t have come at a better time. She’d spent all her recent weekends buried in work, and she hadn’t noticed how quickly her belly was growing. It was time to buy a whole new wardrobe.
