"Julian... what are you saying?"
Her eyes filled with tears as she glared at him.
"Look at how you're treating her now! And look at how you're treating me! ...It's like night and day!"
Julian froze, shutting his eyes against the rising headache. His handsome face was marred by exhaustion, and he clearly didn't want to have this conversation.
He just knew Clara wasn't the kind of vulgar, low-class woman to throw insults unprovoked.
He couldn't stand hearing anyone slander her like that.
Seraphina sobbed pitifully, "Julian, have your feelings changed? If they have, just tell me! I won't cling to you!"
Julian's heart skipped a beat. He opened his eyes, reached out, and gripped her slender shoulders.
His tone turned heavy.
"What nonsense are you talking about?"
"How could my feelings ever change? Don't ever say those words again."
"Just now... I lost my temper. I apologize."
He pulled her into a hug.
Seraphina bit her lip, burying her face in his chest.
But unlike before, her mood didn't improve quickly.
This time, she genuinely felt a sense of crisis...
Julian said gently, "I'll take you to meet Professor Thorne in a bit. Stop crying, okay?"
Seraphina paused, her eyes darting around calculatevely.
"Okay..."
She knew Professor Thorne was her golden ticket.
She had to study under him and make a massive name for herself in the design world!
Then, she would trample Clara right into the dirt, making sure Julian never even glanced her way again.
...
Clara walked all the way out of the hospital building.
It wasn't until the freezing wind hit her face that she finally felt like she could breathe again.
Yet, the bitter taste still lingered in her heart.
Clara took a deep breath, comforting herself with the thought that she was leaving soon, which made her feel slightly better. She walked to the curb, flagged down a taxi, and headed to the teahouse Leo had booked.
On the way.
She was staring blankly out the window when her phone suddenly buzzed.
At a glance, she saw a tall, elegant man stepping out of the teahouse, walking toward her.
He had clean, handsome features and gave off an aura as warm and comforting as a spring breeze.
It was Leo Miller.
Her senior from college.
He walked up, opened his arms, and smiled.
"Long time no see. Welcome back."
Clara suddenly felt her nose tingle. Like a lost fawn finally returning to the forest, she hugged him back.
"Mm..."
Leo patted her gently on the back.
It was cold out, so after a brief hug, he let her go.
"Let's head inside."
Clara sniffled slightly and followed him in.
In the private room.
Leo poured her a cup of hot tea. Noticing her glancing nervously toward the door, he chuckled softly.
