Three years of loving him, three days to erase myself from his world novel Chapter 313

"Just warm, huh."

Eleanor finally let it go.

Clara breathed a sigh of relief.

Right at that moment, a fluffy white kitten scrambled out from beneath the sofa, swatting playfully at the hem of Clara's jeans. It looked up at her with wide, curious eyes, utterly adorable.

It was the same kitten from last night.

Clara's eyes lit up, her earlier stress melting away instantly.

Seeing her reaction, Eleanor chuckled. "Julian brought that little menace with him. It's a miracle, really. A man who used to look at animals like they were a disease is suddenly playing cat dad."

Clara couldn't help but shoot a startled glance at Julian.

Julian smiled. He walked over, smoothly scooped the kitten off the floor, and placed it directly into Clara's lap. He stroked the kitten's head, but his dark eyes were locked entirely on Clara.

"This one is incredibly clingy. I was worried she'd get depressed sitting at home all day, so I've been bringing her with me."

Clara's breath hitched, completely scorched by the raw intensity burning in his gaze.

She wasn't a naive girl anymore; she knew exactly what he was really saying.

He wasn't talking about the cat. He was talking about her.

He wanted to compensate her, bring her back into his life, and keep her safely by his side.

But she refused to be trapped again.

Fighting the tight, aching pressure in her chest, Clara averted her eyes, physically lifting the kitten out of her lap and setting it on the floor.

The kitten truly was affectionate. Just moments ago, it had curled up against her stomach, utterly fearless, rolling around and demanding her attention.

She genuinely adored it.

But she had to walk away.

Her lips trembled as she forced the words out. "Julian, I just want to be left alone right now. Stop chasing me. It's impossible for us..."

Julian stared down at her, his gaze an abyssal void of possessiveness and masculine obsession.

He forced down the primal urge to argue. Instead, he grabbed The Olive Branch Refreshments he had left on the coffee table and set them in front of her.

"I heard women love these kinds of pastries. Try some."

Eleanor chimed in from her bed, "Clara, this stubborn boy is actually putting in the work. He heard you were coming and deliberately went downstairs to wait in line for you. Don't be polite, eat up."

With that, the older woman tactfully excused herself to the adjacent room, leaving the two of them alone.

Clara stared at the delicate pastries in shock.

Julian had actually bought these for her?

It was almost impossible to picture a man of his terrifying arrogance standing in a crowded café line just to buy her a cake.

Hesitantly, she reached out to take it...

The kitten caught the scent of the sweet cream, letting out a sharp meow as it scrambled up Clara's pant leg, desperate for a taste.

Startled, Clara instinctively cupped her hands around the tiny creature to keep it from falling backward. The kitten stubbornly kneaded her palms, crying for a bite.
