Tonight Her Love Ended novel Chapter 52

He had no idea she was highly allergic to seafood. A single bite could send her into anaphylactic shock, and in severe cases, it could kill her.

...

Outside the study, just as they were about to go in, Tristan looked down at her. "Belinda's health is fragile, she can't handle stress. You know exactly what you should and shouldn't say in there."

Nova pressed her lips together. Remembering that Ian's case was still in Tristan's hands, she gave a stiff nod. "Don't worry."

She reached out to push the door open, but her wrist was suddenly caught.

Frowning, she looked up at Tristan. The man's hand slid down, enveloping hers entirely within his palm.

In an instant, Nova's entire body tensed.

Tristan felt her resistance. Her cold hand struggled in his grip, so he tightened his fingers, issuing a low warning, "Don't forget what you just promised."

The door swung open. With Belinda watching them, Nova finally stopped fighting him.

"Made up?" Belinda asked, holding a document. She smiled as she saw them walking in hand-in-hand.

This was one of the very few times in recent years that Tristan had ever held her hand.

Once, she had craved this. Now, she only wanted to pull away.

Nova kept her head down and didn't answer. Belinda nodded in satisfaction and handed her the document.

"These are some mutual funds and stocks under my name. I'm giving them to Nova, the one and only mistress of the Forrester family. This is exclusively for you."

Belinda didn't waste words. Right in front of Tristan, she made her stance perfectly clear—the woman of the Forrester house could only be Nova, never Yvette!

But Nova was about to divorce Tristan. It wasn't right for her to take this.

Besides, her baby was already gone...

She didn't reach for it.

"Put your hand out," Tristan said, taking the document himself and holding it in front of her.

Remembering his warning at the door, Nova hesitated for a second before reaching out to take it.

Belinda knew exactly how desperately Nova wanted to stay by his side, so she couldn't refute that.

Still, she urged him, "Start paying attention to her. You're about to be a father. Even if it's just for the baby's sake, treat her better! Childbirth is like stepping through the gates of hell for a woman."

Standing outside, Nova didn't hear Tristan's response, nor did she care to keep listening.

It was all just empty reassurances to keep an old woman from worrying anyway.

Returning to their room, Nova headed straight into the bathroom, planning to go straight to sleep the moment she stepped out.

As for whether Tristan would come, or where he would sleep if he did, she didn't care.

But as she pushed the bathroom door open, she was stunned to see Tristan walking in, completely shirtless.

His hair was already blow-dried, meaning he had showered in one of the other bathrooms.

And now, standing by the bed, it was obvious he intended to sleep here.
